The GA Grant will cover 100 percent of a student’s financial needs, with a maximum grant of $20,700. To be eligible, students must intend to start college within six years of graduating from high school.

Eligibility

Students must be high school seniors with low incomes. Additionally, applicants must be under the age of 26 when they first receive the scholarship.

Prince George’s County Public Schools, Prince George’s Community College, and the University of Maryland Global Campus are providing an inexpensive, definite pathway to a bachelor’s degree for Prince George’s County students, beginning with dual enrollment in high school.

General Eligibility

To apply for any of these tuition waivers, you must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Have (or will have at the time of application) a UMGC student ID number.
  • Be under the age of 25 (or confirm that you have already acquired one of these waivers at another Maryland college/university).
  • You must be presently enrolled or plan to enroll in a certificate, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree program at UMGC and complete the FAFSA for the current financial aid year.

Homeless Youth Tuition Waiver:

To be eligible for the Homeless Youth Tuition Waiver, you must also meet the following two criteria:

  • You must be able to show that you have had a constant presence in the state of Maryland for at least one year before enrolling at UMGC.
  • You have been (or can be) verified as a homeless child or youth under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act at any time within the 24 months preceding your enrollment at UMGC (or during your enrollment at UMGC) by an approved official.

To get the Foster Care Recipient Tuition Waiver, you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • The Department of Human Services put you in an out-of-home placement, and you lived there when you turned 18 or graduated from high school/completed your GED.
  • You lived in an out-of-home environment for at least a year after turning 13, and you were placed under guardianship, adopted, or reunited with at least one of your parents.
  • You are the younger sibling of someone who satisfies criteria 1 or 2 above, and you were placed under guardianship or adopted from an out-of-home placement at the same time as your older sibling.

6. Student Aid Fund For Emergency Relief

It is well recognized that students suffer daily hurdles while pursuing their education, as well as other competing priorities, and the organization recognizes that unforeseen financial challenges add to the difficulty.

Eligible students can receive up to $500 in UMGC SAFER aid once per academic year. To be eligible for the SAFER grants, you must:
